About Us

The Vietnamese Student Association at University of California, Santa Barbara strives to build a strong community to preserve and share the Vietnamese heritage among our members and campus. For the past 22 years (est. 1997), we have welcomed countless students into our intimate family and provided a voice for Vietnamese American and Asian American youths here at UCSB.

In addition to our fun general meetings, we also host:
  • "Vietnamese Culture Night," an annual and entirely student-run production that consists of a play with performing aspects such as choir, dance, and spoken word. Vietnamese Culture Night aims to spread awareness about pertinent issues within the Vietnamese-American community, as well as provide members with the opportunity to express themselves creatively.
  • "V.O.I.C.E (Vietnamese Outreach Initiative for College Education)," an all-expenses-paid conference in which we provide the opportunity for underrepresented, underprivileged, and low-income Vietnamese and minority high school students to experience the UCSB campus. VOICE aims to foster an interest among students in attaining a higher education beyond high school.
  • "Phở King," an annual male pageant show where male contestants from VSAs all over Southern California compete for the ultimate title of "Phở King." All proceeds are donated to a charity of our choice at the end of the year.
  • The "Anh Chị Em (ACE)" Program, which connects older and younger members with similar interests, goals, and ambitions to provide mentorship, guidance, and form a family-like bond within our organization.
  • Community service and cultural events, such as Toys for Vietnam, Tet Week, and the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival.

We also work closely with many cultural organizations both at UCSB and throughout Southern California in order to fulfill our mission statement, help out the community, and at the same time enrich our college experience.
