Mid-Autumn Moon Festival

The Mid-Autumn Moon Festival (Tết Trung Thu) is one of the most important holidays for the Vietnamese people. The festival celebrates the harvest, family time and especially children, as parents had to spend much time working hard on their farms. Traditionally, children would parade the streets with colorful handcrafted lanterns and families would exchange Bánh Trung Thu, boxes of colorful and delicious moon cakes, to celebrate the festival.

Every year, UCSB's Vietnamese Student Association hosts a Mid-Autumn Moon Festival during Welcome Week to not only educate and spread the importance of the Vietnamese holiday, but also encourage new UCSB students to learn about the different Asian and Pacific Islander student organizations and Greek life on campus as well.  Come join us for an evening full of fun games, delicious food, and cool performances!
